History of bathrooms Part 5 Bathrooms from 16th - 18th century

Horrible histories show has some amazing facts it shows. There were some really bizarre things people did. Arn't we glad we are more civilized.

Bathing for some obscure reason declined in the 16th and 17th century.

The only thing favored was private bathrooms. Perhaps the diseases psychology impacted the way people thought about bathing.

This was the overall foundation for what we have today in our modern 21st century bathrooms

England was hit with the plagues which meant something had to be done. In 200 years the plague hit 7 times. It appeared that the public bathing enhanced the plagues spread consequently some things needed to urgently change

It was at this time King Henry viii decided it was important to close down all bating houses located in England as these were blamed for the plagues. The answer was thought to be clean linen and was thought to soak up the toxins.

Laundry cleaning started to come into vogue for women as a consequence of this and its stuck ever since for some.
